Rob Cross picked up his first PDC ranking title of the year on Wednesday with an 8-5 victory against Maik Kuivenhoven in the final of Players Championship 22.

What happened?

Cross ended a 16-month drought without a ranking title, having last won at the opening Players Championship Event of 2025.

The match was closely contested, with both players level at 2-2 after four legs, before Cross won back-to-back legs to move 4-2 ahead.

Kuivenhoven hit back with successive legs to square the tie at 4-4, but Cross dominated the remainder of the final, winning four of the following five legs.

Road to the final

Cross recorded victories against Chris Landman, Jimmy Van Schie, Connor Scutt, David Sharp, Alexander Merkx, and Stephen Bunting to set up the clash with Kuivenhoven.

The PDC Pro Tour returns on July 6-7 in Leicester with Players Championship 23 & 24, and the final events before the qualification cut-off for the Betfred World Matchplay.

The victory marked Cross's 11th Players Championship title and earned him the £15,000 top prize.
Kuivenhoven's run to a maiden PDC ranking final saw him record victories against Christian Kist, Alan Soutar, Rob Owen, Ryan Searle, Gian Van Veen, and Tom Bissell.
